Living in
this day and age, we have been literally bombarded with opportunities and
options in regards to travelling and gaining experiences and living and working
and holidaying abroad.
While being
away and when getting lost, we are simultaneously finding ourselves and
discovering ourselves and creating ourselves all at the same time!
Travelling
away, experiencing a different culture, eating and tasting different and
interesting food, meeting new, interesting, fun people while making new friends
along the way, living in a foreign country, speaking and learning foreign
language, buying and bargaining, getting lost and asking for direction, getting
to know the local produce, the local transport, the local people, the local
traditions, the local sightseeing, the local landmarks, the local tourists
spots that and even more is offering to us in all its beauty for us to touch,
to feel, to grab, to grasp, to sense, to embrace, to enjoy, to experience it.
Travelling
to me means and represents a challenge, stepping outside my comfort zone, doing
something that I have never done before, being somewhere I have never been
before, experience things that I have never had an opportunity to taste and
experience before.
For me it is an opening myself to new possibilities and
opportunities, new options that I may have never ever opted for myself, new
openings, new journeys, new routes and roads to take on, to embark on, windows
and doors opening that I may have never even considered before, falling in love
with the place, with the people, with the local kitchen, with the culture, with
the landmarks, with the sightseeing, with the local church, with everything for
my very first time, straight in a head over the heels way.
I have
definitely and certainly done my share of travelling and am still open to new
options and possibilities. The sky is the limit and my mind is open in this way
in more ways imaginable.
Most of the
time, I have been travelling alone or in some instances with my sister and
friends on shorter trips and adventures.
Yes, it is
not an easy road to take and to embark on, it is not an easy decision to make. They
are consequences and they are reasons good enough for going after it. However,
never the less, one must be smart and wise and advised enough and content
enough with the journeys that are going to come along the way, the very good
ones, the good ones, the not so very good ones, and all in between, as well,
too.
You may go
on without seeing your family and friends back then for months, even years, as
in my own example, from my very own experience. You may struggle, feel lonely,
be totally and brutally alone, feel homesick, want to give up million times
over, you may want to cry and sob, and burst into tears, you may also feel
euphoria, a total joy, or total sadness, a total bliss and contentment and
happiness, or you may be and feel desperation, you may think you will conquer
the world and come out stronger and braver and a better human being than the
one who has entered the world and the war!
But then again, how come the things don’t
go as you planned, as they should go anyway?
How come no one understands your
trouble, your sorrow, your sickness of everything and anything and everybody
and anybody.
Is it
possible at all to come out of this hole, to come out of this loophole and
still feel victorious, still feel there is no need to fight the battle, you
already are the winner just for showing up, just for taking that bold and
courageous step, just for taking an action?
Who has ever
done that and succeed?
Could that
be you OR is that you?? J
Please, I would
love to hear your comments!!
Much, much
appreciated… J
